Job Description: Consultant Hematologist
Role Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced and specialized Consultant Hematologist to lead our clinical hematology department. The successful candidate will provide expert diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with blood-related disorders and malignancies, ensuring adherence to the highest international healthcare standards.
Required Qualifications & Education
Primary Degree: MB.CH.B (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) from a recognized University.
Specialization: * Master of Medicine (M.Med) in Clinical Hematology OR
M.Med in Internal Medicine supplemented by a formal Fellowship in Clinical Hematology (or an equivalent recognized specialization path).
Licensure: Valid specialist registration/license to practice as a Consultant.
Experience Requirements
Total Experience: A minimum of 9 years of post-qualification working experience in the field of Hematology.
Accreditation Standards: At least 1–2 years of recent experience working within a JCI-accredited hospital is mandatory.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of both clinical and laboratory hematology.
Analytical Rigor: Ability to interpret complex diagnostic data and make critical decisions under pressure.
Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills to discuss sensitive diagnoses and treatment plans with patients and their families.
Leadership: Proven track record of managing clinical teams and driving departmental growth.
Experience Requirements:
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Excellence: Provide expert consultation and management for complex hematological conditions, including anemia, coagulopathies, leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.
Diagnostic Leadership: Supervise and interpret specialized laboratory tests such as bone marrow aspirates, biopsies, and flow cytometry.
Treatment Planning: Design and oversee chemotherapy protocols, immunotherapy, and blood transfusion services.
Quality & Compliance: Maintain and enhance clinical protocols to meet JCI (Joint Commission International) accreditation standards, ensuring patient safety and operational excellence.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with oncologists, pathologists, and primary care teams to provide integrated patient care.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior medical staff, residents, and nursing teams within the hematology unit.
