Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Assistant General Manager – Commercial to oversee and manage the organization’s commercial operations, including procurement, supply chain coordination, contracts management, logistics, LC operations, vendor management, commercial documentation, and statutory compliance.
The role requires strong expertise in handling Letter of Credit (LC) transactions, raw material procurement, vendor negotiations, and commercial coordination within the steel or manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, and operational management capabilities.
Experience Requirements:
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial & LC Operations
Lead and manage end-to-end Letter of Credit (LC) operations including:
Issuance
Negotiation
Amendments
Settlement
Coordinate with:
Banks
Suppliers
Buyers
Freight forwarders
Internal departments
Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and company policies.
Review and approve LC terms in alignment with contractual and risk management standards.
Monitor trade finance exposure, credit limits, and financial risks.
2. Procurement & Vendor Management
Handle procurement of raw materials and commercial sourcing activities.
Develop and manage vendors across PAN India.
Conduct price negotiations with primary steel vendors for competitive procurement.
Maintain strong supplier relationships and ensure uninterrupted material supply.
Evaluate vendor proposals, quotations, and commercial terms.
3. Contract Management
Develop, negotiate, and execute supplier and commercial contracts.
Identify contract opportunities aligned with business requirements.
Ensure contracts comply with applicable regulations and customer requirements.
Manage contract documentation, approvals, and renewals.
4. Supply Chain & Commercial Coordination
Coordinate supply chain operations to ensure timely delivery and execution.
Monitor logistics, dispatch schedules, and inventory coordination.
Support production and operational teams for smooth project execution.
Ensure efficient coordination between internal departments and external stakeholders.
5. Financial & Commercial Control
Monitor vendor payments and maintain smooth cash flow management.
Track costing, budgeting, and commercial performance metrics.
Prepare commercial MIS reports and operational summaries.
Ensure cost optimization and commercial efficiency across functions.
6. Team Leadership & Process Improvement
Lead and mentor commercial and documentation teams.
Implement process improvements for operational efficiency and accuracy.
Maintain updated knowledge of:
International trade practices
Banking procedures
Currency risk management
Commercial regulations

Educational Qualification
B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
